Check Your Nuts!!!

    Well, today was productive! New tires, new rear brake pads, I will be ordering a new rear rotor and I had the thought to check the swingarm nut, since the engine has an increase in vibration. I had already checked the others. The nut was loose.

    A big thank you to OOTV who not only gave me the torque spec, but he also told me where to look in the service manual!
    Swingarm pivot nut is 69 ft.lb

    Wow! Good catch right there. How often should these be inspected? If any? Obviously yours was loose, but is this common? What is the torque spec?

    Excellent reminder.

    I had a Daytona 675 track bike that regularly loosened the same engine bolt. Like you, I found it through a change in engine harmonics. Checking all the engine mounts became part of my oil change routine, on that bike.

    Thursday, I pulled my SV’s suspension and found a loose shock bolt. That’s something I’m going to add to the oil changes on that bike.

    Torque specs are above. I have no idea if it's common, but my bike took a big hit when I crashed at the end of December.
