OK, I don't mind changing the oil on the girl, or pulling the wheels when I need new rubber...

Is pulling the fork spring and replacing it with a new .95 spring something I can do? (i know, you don't know my abilities )

Is it something you would do? Or is this one of those "gotta take it to the shop" moments?

Can it be done with the forks on the bike.

    Enquiring minds want to know...

    TIA

    CD

On my 86' it was very easy, support bike, unscrew fork caps and pull springs out.

    What year is your bike?

Do you lose much oil? Guess I better get some. And I better find my manual (I just moved and it got boxed away somewhere).

Personally I would change the oil at the same time changing the springs (if you know it has not been changed for some time). And, someone correct me if I am wrong, but in order to change the oil on a 5th gen you must take the forks out as there is no drain plug on the forks (correct?). And whilst you are at it and have the forks out I would also replace the fork seals!! To remove the forks is not such a big job but you do need a few hours minimum. And its much easier with a friend to help!!

Good call Flea. I just had the seals and new oil done in Oct. and I was hoping to be able to just drop the new springs/spacer in.

Has anyone just changed the springs without also adding gold valves, etc.?

Those look really nice. Unfortunately, way over my budget for this season.

the springs alone are only $109.95 Not that expensive. Plus they are tuned for your weight range.

If you want to know more about the Traxxion stuff, either pm me or call them. They are a really great company.

Watch the video on their website. Especially the goldwing one, it realy helped me understand suspension basics.

Yep, that's what brought this on...my excess weight range.

New springs front and rear. Start saving for the rebuilds with gold valves. Doing the 929 shock out back. Poor mans way to a better suspension.

    Thanks for the replies.
