Own a '97 800 Fi-W - love it. Chain/sprockets about due for replacement after 2 hard English winters (50+ miles/day) and want an automatic chain oiler to extend new one's life. Scottoiler (£65)? - does it need any drilling or similar to obtain the pressure to feed the oil, is it easy to fit, or is a battery pumped one (CLS200U £130) a better/simpler option? Anyone with experience of either or other suggestions? 'fraid I'm not the mechanically-minded soul I was as a teenager so simplicity is needed. Would appreciate any suggestions.

I had a scotoiler fitted to my '97 750 - its an improvement on sprays but I find it difficult to get the flow rate set correctly and find the resovoir run's out after 10 - 14 days (set a 1 drip for each 30-60 seconds). I would go for the bigger resovoir which mounts behind the number plate if I were choosing again.
Scottoiler highly recommended if you use daily for short snappy journeys (say in and out of town). Had one fitted on my 97 FV with my last chain. That was three years and 43,000 miles ago! - the previous chain lasted 12,000. Chain & sprockets at say, £120 - chain oiler £65. You do the maths. Only prob I found was to consistently get an even drip rate. Fitting is pretty simple and good instructions in the kit. Locating the resevoir can be tricky to avoid it getting covered in crud.
