Anyone ever removed the center stand? I assume it was really tough? Any suggestions or tips?

On the 4th gens it's a piece of cake. Tip: put it on the side stand. If it's a 4th gen you're doing I'll scan the relevant page of the Manual.

Yes, get a manual. It is amazing how many people ask questions each day that are plainly listed in the manual. It is not hard folks.

My best tip to you is to leave it on. Why do you want to remove it?

I have a 2002 and I really hate the location of the center stand. I have a service manual, it looks like you have remove or loosen the exhaust in order to get to the brake side bolts.

Thanks for the reply, I might just leave it on.

I like the wind screen, where did you get it. Does it give you any better wind protection thann the stocker?

When I remove the center stand it normally because it interferes with mods to exhaust or suspension. Another benefit is it is an easy way to drop dead weight. Kind of the same concept as cafe guys and old Harley bobbers. If you dont use the part it goes in the scrap pile. Lighter bikes handle better. If you use the stand alot, keep it. If not...see ya

PO of my '98 removed the centerstand. Fortunately, he did not throw it on the scrap heap. After three attempts to put it back on myself, I finally had to take it to a shop. Wasn't cheap to have it put back on. Would have been more if I had to go and buy one as well.

Please, unless you are planning on keeping your bike forever, save those parts you take off! The next owner may want them.

Wow, on my 4th gen it's one bolt and pull the pivot shaft. I usually keep it off and just put it back on when I'm doing maintainence. Yet another reason the 4th gen is superior
