The first time I put the bike on the center stand, I tweaked my back. There isn't much to hold on to and you have to bend over when you lift. A piece of rebar and a few minutes took care of the problem.

If you tweaked your back you need to work on your technique. There's no real lifting involved so your back shouldn't have an issue. Your legs should be doing all the work.

First off, SOW doesn't have much of a handle to grab onto either. This is part of the reason for his frustration. This is a medical condition for which there is no cure. ( Micropenis)

Back to the guys bike.. It's a 1984 and unless the many pix of same lies, there is not a lot to hold onto to lever the bike up onto the centerstand. We might assume that unless having owned an 84 with a centestand and maybe having a tweaked back to start with, maybe thinking we got it all figured out ain't as good as a bigass chunk of rebar and Archimedes was spot on.

    centerstands are easy.

step it into the ground, press the front brake, keep pressure on the center stand, as you shove and load up the frontend with a good downward push. as the frontend begins to rise back up, let go off the front brake, the bike should then recoil backwards, walking right up onto it's center stand.

it's really nothing to get bent outta shape about...

Gotta say I have never heard of it being put on the stand that way. Are you astride the bike while you do this. I wanna give that one a try. Mayby SOT will try also and drop his bike again and blame it on putting 1.75 gallons of gas in the tank instead of the usual 1.5. But his frame sliders will protect all.

I have a reg stand, so only the bike shop use center stand with its perfectly level Floor. I don't think BB uses center stands either-its not needed when you use other peoples bikes-you have to wonder though if they catch on and leave the brakes broken. My jerry can is 1.5 gals and I don't need much gas to go 30 miles that my limit tell I figure out what I am doing wrong-my wrists hurt those stock clip-ons are too low-I only have a 2 inch raise on them. I think the vfr has to be setup for the rider because the way it comes is not too good-a Suzuki 1000 is actually lighter-much faster.

Seriously sow. Leace badbilly out of your irrellevent bullshit so I dont have to be irrationally angry at him for scarring your poor little mind amd heart. Also. Stop with the irrellevent shit.

My way of centerstanding, you are in the saddle. If you drive the centerstand down with one foot, the bike will center itself. Thats when you load yhe brakes and let it rock itself back onto the stand.

Never tried it while on the bike, just not tall enough I guess. But it really isn't that hard off the bike though. I can almost do it barefoot, and definitely with just sandals or flipflops on. My '99 goes up really easy, but it's all in the technique. IMO anyway.

It is very easy btw. Once you realize when you put your weiggt on that center stand pedal on the saddle and it just sticks in place, one solid rock of the bike and it rolls straight back onto it. No rebar needed haha

Voided...you must be 6'2...I would love to see a video of you doing it with your VFR. You have to have both your feet flat footed on the ground right?
