Hey all, VF newbie here hailing from Iowa. A friend of mine (and VFR enthusiast) referred me to the site (I'm sure he's on here somewhere); just bought an '84 VF500F off of him back in December. Been riding for a while now, with a handful of bikes under my belt. I have an old Kawasaki twin, Kawasaki four, have ridden a 1200 Sportster, and have the Interceptor. First time I ever heard a V4, I had a mental hard-on. The only other motorcycle that I can equate to sounding (almost) as good and as testosterone-pumping as the VFR is the old CBX. The first time the VF500F fired up it put a shit-eating grin on my face (a Hindle exhaust makes it perfect), and every time I ride it does the same. I've ridden it almost every week since I've got it, only yielding to ice/snow-covered roads (I dubbed it "The Winterceptor" for this).

Needless to say, the sound, the look, and the performance is intoxicating, even for a 31-year old 500cc bike. Despite the semi-hindering mechanical issues, I love it. People were definitely correct with saying that VFRs have a cult following; it's love at first ride! :vtr2:

Thanks! I'm planning on upgrading to an '02,'03 VFR 800 over the summer; got invited to Sturgis and none of my bikes could make the trip. Is the VTEC kick-in as abrupt as people claim it to be?

    Also, here's a pic of the 500:
