    Going to sell the 700.
Haven't sold a bike to anyone other than a friend.

Was wondering if anyone used a contract for the rest ride to avoid any possible lawsuit?

The PO had to repair the bike after a test ride crash. I guess he didn't follow the cash in hand rule.

Any tips on selling a bike?

All the usual on the net including Craigslist, Ebay ect. Cash in hand sounds good but only a serious buyer is gonna show up at your pad with the pesos. If you let some dude ride the bike and he isn't licensed, it's your fault. If the dude breaks the bike it's on you unless you have clearly informed in writing that the rider is liable. Sixteen to twenty year olds are not a good bet on this and they won't have the pesos unless they live on Perkins Lane.

A plug: So sue me... You can advertise your bike on SoundRider. I think they get fifteen pesos. This is all you pay and the ad runs until the bike is sold.

Some old Chinese guys said that a long time ago. This led to an argument about which was best; to follow your nose or follow your gut. The nose won by an nose since following your gut might be construed as having your head up your ass.

Those old Chinese guys never agreed on everything.

For a difference of four pesos, there ain't all that much to consider.

Be sure to snap a photo of buyers drivers license. I also must get a drivers license when buying and it must match the title or no deal.

Maybe I'm naive or just confused, but the whole cash in hand thing has always puzzled me. I've bought many a car that cost ten times more than a lot of bikes and have never had to put that much money in someone's palm before a test drive. Is it really that common for people to wreck a bike on a test ride? I understand seeing and copying their license makes sense. But getting 5-10,000 or more in Benjamins before going to check out a bike seems pretty extreme.

It's more a "Nose" thing, per BB, you know, sniff em out getting a good read, if that's possible these days. Seems the trend nowa days is to see what you can get away with. I tend to have a pretty good read of people while they are walking up, I'm not saying I'm accurate all the time. My back ground working in the customer service field in person, you tend to get pretty good at figuring out folks before hand. Yea I may be a bit pre judgemental, so be it, it's kept me out of harms way more than not. So yea go with your gut. If you can't , then play it safe, make it a no deal when you start getting a weird sense.

Yet you have accepted a friendship request from me, have invited me into your family home, and even met me with a half-pack or Blue Moon a couple years back. So much for that J

I always say cash in hand, or show up on a bike a equal or greater value and I will follow you on yours.

The other part of that is you can kinda make sure it's not just some dumby out looking to trash someone elses bike.

I have only bought one bike used. I knew what I was looking for on the bike that would have made me pass on it at the time. I was willing to give him my driver’s license (With my motorcycle endorsement) and my car keys since the bike and car was worth as much. I was 30yrs old at the time and the owner was younger, so I think I gave the vibe that I was serious because we went over the bike for 30 mins prior to the test ride. I was just as weary of the seller as he was of me the potential buyer.

I have also sold one bike with an add. The guy that I sold it to called me three times and asked a lot of the right questions. He had owned the same bike and sold it because of a child coming. At the time he was able to rebuy a used one and seemed to really want it. (no shit because It was a cherry Sv1000s with every OEM add and was pristine and I regret it to this day!) I told him that I had three buyers looking and the first one with cash took the bike. He showed up showing me $4000.00 in cash and had his wife and 2yr old with him. I asked to see his license to see if he was a rider in the past and then he gave his wife the cash and asked to take it out on a ride. I was amazed that he had the cash and was thinking not to sell, but did seeing the bundle of $100’s!

I think that if someone calls and asks you the right questions before hand, and you do the same to them the potential buyer it’s worth having them come by. If they don’t ask any questions or just want to test ride tell them that cash needs to be in (your) hand and you will have to see that they have a motorcycle endorsement. If they hesitate, don’t waste your time. If they show up in a 1996 Honda civic with windows tinted and mismatched paint and a bullshit pipe, or an old police cruiser, or any car 15 to 20 yrs. old. And he or she is a passenger and the driver that does not get out of the car PASS! ;-)

I already posted a reply. But I think the bottom line is that your bike is a title free bike and anyone interested will need to have the cash to buy it. I would think that you would want to see the money if they come to you for a test ride and I would state that to anyone that responds. I would also ask to see if they have a motorcycle endorsement on their license and take it physically. If they are not doing anything wrong they will not be pulled over.
