Hello all, new here. I just picked up an '83 interceptor 750 with only 13000 original Km on it! for $600! what a steal! The bike was originally a non-runner as there was no compression in one cylinder and the previous owner did not know what to do to fix it. The bike had also been sitting for five years. Anyways, the intake valves were too tight and were open during compression (not bent thankfully). So after some oil in the top end and fixing the compression she fired up.
Next job was to clean/reset/resync the carbs as it wouldnt idle.
So, when pulling off the carbs I snapped the plastic transfer tubes. F@#!
Question is, I have 2 "T" tubes, but don't know how many more/how many straight long/short tubes I need. where can I get more? ive seen some on V4 market for a set of 3 Tubes, one T, one long, one short made of aluminum.
Can anyone fill me in on how many tubes i need/where to get some? I've been trying everywhere on the net!
    Thanks!

these tubes are like needles in hay stacks noob... just out of curiosity.... did you remove the air plenum that was screwed to the carbs? if you did that's how you snapped them... you best bet is too find another set on Flea bay and hope that they are in good working order. and yeah it sucks...

Yes, I removed the intake plate. Unfortunatly, as much as I read not to, the bike had been sitting for 5 years and I'm sure the carbs have not once been taken off so I had to take it off and even then it took 30 mins per carb to get them to wiggle (after loosening the bands) and the boots didnt rip or tear thankfully. Lucky me. I guess I'll try ebay.

    Here's another question.
I currently have 2 of the "T" plastic pieces intact.
How many do I need? (straight/short/T)
I found this online and am wondering if/how many I should order.
Fuel Tubes - 3 tube set
    Thanks

Hate to be such a pessimist - but you're not going to find the original plastic runners, and if you do you'll probably pay over $100 to replace them. That's why almost every thread on this forum that deals with carb cleaning warns not to pull the carbs off the manifolds. The boots should be replaced anyway, especially if they're old, and they're available for about $15 apiece. I have the carb set off my 83 at home. Let me take a look and see how many tubes there are. In the meantime, download the Field Service Manual for your bike and take a look at the section for the carbs.

Ok pops, that would be great, how many long/t/short tubes do you have? I have the clymer manual for the bike, that good enough or should I download the one you mentioned? Thanks!

On mine, fuel comes into a "T" line that feeds carbs 1 and 2 (the ones on the left as you're sitting on the bike) The short straight tube goes between the left and right carb banks. The long straight tube runs between carbs 3 and 4 (on the right) The 2 long plastic "T" tubes are air tubes that run between carbs 1 and 3, and 2 and 4. They don't hook up to anything - they're just air vents.
This is JUST MY OPINION, but you may as well toss the Clymer... Either download the real thing (if you're a cheapskate like me!) or buy one off ebay.

mine was sitting for about 6 years when I got it... removal of the air plenum is really a no no..... luckily my carbs had broken tabs on them so they were worthless (tabs that screw one to the other)

Thanks so much pops. I figured the same thing after I pulled it apart, pulled the pieces that were broken off. Now I just gotta order the set from online, the carbs are 100% cleaner after pulling every bit of rubber and jet and boiling them in water with lemon juice, the floats, jets and everything else has been thoroughly cleaned, just gotta put it all back together, reset, resync, ride! Thanks all.
