Carb fuel line routing question...

    I have an 84 VFR 700 F Interceptor and I have it running but when I took it apart I forgot which way the fuel line was routed. The way that I have it now it runs from the fuel pump thru the line all the way to connect between the 2 carbs on the right side of the bike (if your sitting on it.) then it goes thru those carbs to carbs 1&2. I was wondering if the line should be moved into the middle of the four carbs? That way there is equal distance between where the gas comes in and the 4 carbs? Is this where the line normally goes? Since my throttle linkage is still very stiff I thought this might be the reason why. It might be pushing the carbs out of alignment getting them to bind up.

    I dont know if this helps but I have a 84 vf1000f and my fuel line runs to the left side of the fuel rail witch all 4 carbs are connected to you should only have one fuel inlet make shure you are not looking at the vents. the plate that covers your carbs is it in place if not that might make your carbs throttle linkage and are u shure its not your cables. Dan

    Cables are real loose when they weren't hooked up to the carbs. I thought since the fuel line might have gone in the middle of all the carbs that it bad that I might have moved it to the outside right carbs. So you are saying that yours runs from the fuel pump along the left side of the bike and connects to the left side of the fuel rail? Mine is all the way on the right. I think that might knock the carbs enough out of whack to make useing the throttle harder. My throttle doesn't even go back when I let go. Its binding up on something.

    Can anyone else confirm that the fuel line coming from the pump enters to the right, left or middle.

    The fuel line with the T should be on the left side of the carb bank as you are sitting on the bike. It sounds like you have it in the wrong place.

    Stiff throttles are pretty common on these older bikes. When they are really stiff like yours I usually replace both cables. I also remove the throttle tube and clean/relube it. That typically does the trick.

    Thanks for the help. Is it like this for the 84. Just want to double check before I start tearing into it.

    What's a throttle tube?

    Where may I find the little guy?

    I just finished the fix and I did it just in the knick of time. There is a few springs that were coming out and I had to find them and put them back. One of the needle valves were also sticking and I got it loose with a screwdriver and then some penetrating oil to keep it moving. I moved the t line and put it back together and the throttle is so loose now. Its a beautiful thing. It doesn't go back on its own but it does move a little. So some more working it should get it to come back on its own.

    Thanks for your help. Now its on to changing the back tire. And maybe the front too.
