Can I keep my stock clutch and brake master cylinders but swap out the levers?

Hello forum. I love my stock hydraulic brake and clutch master cylinders, but I'd like a much shorter and much fatter lever for both. Something similar to the "shorty" style levers you see on dirt bikes. Something designed to be squeezed with one or two fingers instead 4 fingers. Has anyone seen levers like that available, especially for my 5th gen VFR800?

Hello and welcome to the fray,

    Short answer ... yes.

    Long answer ... below.

I have changed both of my levers to the "dial-a-click" style -- without changing the reservoirs.

This style allows you to change the lever position at anytime.

All I had to do was pull the hinge-pin, remove the old levers, add the new levers -- and done!!

Be careful of the push-pins behind the levers. These push INTO the reservoirs, and they can fall out when removing the levers.

It took about 10 minutes total.

I bought my levers from a buddy, so I do not know the brand name.

You can find all kinds of levers online -- eBay, Amazon, AliExpress, Wish, etc. -- you can even find color-matching levers, if you desire.

Yes you can, I did that... Chinese ones work fine, be sure to get the ones for your year/model. There are usually three types, shorty, long, and fold-up type. The long ones are a tad shorter than the stock levers. Not sure I personally would want shorty's but, hey, they're cheap enough to try.

I'm going with the ASV levers soon. Have em on the DRZ and love em. I would NOT trust cheap chinese knock-offs for your controls.
