Ok anyways, I have had my VFR since May 2001 and LOVE it!!! I have done loads of modifications all myself. But ... I have a slight delema, I purchased my VFR800Fi from California! =(

Ok I need to know a few things if any of u guru's know the answers as I get conflicting words throughout the forums out on the internet.

    1. Does a 2001 Interceptor purchased from CA still have that Ca Smog restriction thingamajiger on it? I have been told the 2001 model doesn't have it, but do not fully trust the source which i recieved this information from.

    2. If it does ... How do you go about plugging/removing it? (Detailed if possible)

P.S. If it helps any, I have done these mod's K&N Filter, Removed Snorkle, Arrow Slip on Pipe, HPS Crash Guards (not to impressed with these, post me with questions on why), Custom fender eliminator (ThanX dremel for making an awsome product! =), Custom 12 Volt lighter, 5 Volt USB plugs and some new stickers that make it more aerodynamic! jk =P

This is a re-post from Model Specific just in case this was supposed to be posted here.

Your 2001 CA VFR has different throttle bodies and EFI unit, plus the charcoal cannister. The 98-99 VFRs had different cams for CA, but not 00-01 units. I don't know what a thingamajigger is.

The cannister is easy to ditch. Remove it, the vacuum hoses, and the electronic valve on the right side of the bike, all the way back to the 5-way connector behind the airbox. Connect the four remaining vacuum hoses to the nipples on either side of the airbox like the 49-state models do. Saves about 4 pounds or so. No performance difference, but changing the oil filter sure is less messy.

Thank you for the reply ^_^ Charcoal Cannister is coming off first thing tomorrow morning! Looking through my parts catalog I can see just the tank and one fairing needs to come off, should be a sinch to do.

Finally a reason to get under my fairings and repaint my radiator grill.

While you're at the airbox, pull the snorkel out of the main airbox intake and disconnect the vacuum line connected to the secondary air inlet. Plug it with a golf tee. This will greatly help flat spot between 4-5000 rpm. You can also put 1/4" spacers under the front of the tank. I would suggest longer bolts if you do this - be careful not to overtorque them!
