Look at the bottom of your thread you created here. The forum looks at keywords in your post and shows "similar threads". There are a few recent threads keyed up about buying US bikes and importing to Canada. Might keep ya busy until later this afternoon when people start showing up on the forum.

    Cheers!

Where are you located? You mention going to the Maritimes soon but I missed if you stated were you are now?

Importing is very easy to do, the savings can be quite good too if you shop around and time things right.

You might want to search in Quebec also. The big increase in plate fee's there have caused quite a few riders there to sell some of their toys.

Been keeping an eye on kijiji, a few but prices are fairly similar to around Ontario. A new one for bid from a dealer in the states on ebay that I'm interested in, 07 brand spankin'. a couple of other fellows on here mentioned to check it out as they've seen them go new in the 07's for less than 7k.

Finally got the bike today. Picked it up in Buffalo, paid the tax , no duty, did the import documentation and got it licensed. Happy to say I rode 55km. First thoughts are it's much smaller than I remebered but adjusted after an hour of riding. I figure I just need to get some miles on the bike and I'll feel a lot more comfortable.

Way to go guys! I was dreaming about a new '07 for 7G as well. Too many bills right now though. Oh well - the old '98 is running great. Cheapest I saw out here was 11,400 cdn for a new '08 ABS. Next bike will be an import.

I imported an 06 from southern Pennsylvania 2 weeks ago. Pearl white, 6500 miles with Leo Vince exhaust and new tires. Landed cost in Toronto, including cost of bike, exchange, taxes, import fees, transportation, etc was $6900. I saved at least $1700. If you do your homework, find the right seller and make sure you account for all your costs (shipping, exchange rates, etc.), you will find a great deal.

I'm heading to Dallas next week to pick up a 2002 with 8k on the clock. The bike is immaculate and has a two brothers carbon system as well as a Power commander, the original pipes and a givi rack. $3700 usd you can't get close to that here and I get to rider her home as a bonus. This will be my sixth import. I just don't shop here anymore, it's too expensive.
