I'm have been thinking about buying a vfr for a long time... I was going to go with a 5th generation, stock yellow . But, before I make the final decision I want to ride the new Vtech. Does anyone know of a vfr for sale, at a dealership, that is in Florida?? I have search online and No one has a 5th generation vfr.... Is there much difference between the 6th gen. v.s. the 5th gen.??? Plus, how much am I going to probably pay.. Also, what should I keep an eye out for?
Try Craigslist, you can find VFR's from 1990-2007, Here's a 2000 in Tallahassee... http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/mcy/407049152.html
Definately check Craigslist. I found my VFR on Craigslist last November and got a real good deal. I have a 5th gen 2k VFR and love it. I am not a fan of the VTEC, but that is a personal perference. There is currently a recall on the 2002 - 2006 Sixth Gen VFRs.. The 5th gen VFR is a great all around bike and better for touring - I really like the 4th gen VFRs and I feel it is a better bike for people who want to do trackdays (there are some people like me that think the 4th gen is the best VFR). I do like the 5th gen because it has fuel injection - the 4 Gen VFR has carburetors. The VFR achilles heel is the wicked rectifier relay issue which can be resolved. I have just recently had to deal with the dreaded rectifier relay issue. Best advice I can give you on this issue is to put a fan on the rectifier relay and purchase the modified OEM rectifier as a backup (glad I had the new backup R/R). Also get the battery checked and also make sure there are no overheating issues on the VFR. Very general opinion.
