ok so i bought the sargent seat for my 6th gen and im still having a issue i had with my stock seat... butt burn.. you know that burning sensation in your rump. i will get it after about 30 40 miles... whats the deal i even went out and got a pair of *like* under armor underpants, with the moisture wicking deal. did 400 miles sunday and my ass was burning like crazy. and a tad sore, but soon as i get off the bike no pain at all. i mean as soon as i get off of it, doesnt linger or anything. what can i do to combat this problem?
you might want to see a doctor on this one... i am usually good for atleast 2 hours. good luck on this post because youre setting your self up for trolling. lol
1. Lose Weight / Exercise and get some muscle in there 2. Anti-Monkey Butt Powder (it's real - LINK) 3. Airhawk Seat Cushion(expensive) Just suggestions. Been there too. I figured it was just because of my big arse on a little seat. I know the damn welt/piping on the seat doesn't favor my legs for the better lol.
I've done thousand mile days. A good pair of gel-padded bicycle shorts is the key. Don't skimp, a chamois pad just isn't enough. Find a set with gel/chamois combo that's wide enough to hit both "pressure points". If that doesn't work, check on ebay for +5 endurance stickers.
Oh God, I cxan't wait to see where this thread goes............. "butt burn, monkey butt" Oh Boy you really set yourself up........
+1 what SLO said. If you wear briefs, they are not as comfortable as boxer-briefs or boxers. Biking shorts are good as are the padded ones SLO mentioned as they extend farther down your leg.
These are what I bought, and I rode straight from Orlando FL to Deal's Gap in 11.5 hours(624 miles). They are special underwear for motorcyclists riding long distances. These along with my Sargent seat worked awesome! Got a bit sore but nothing a quick stretch couldnt fix. LDComfort - Getting to the Bottom of Rider Comfort - Motorcycle Underwear
If you're burning after only 30 or 40 miles, there does appear to be a bigger issue here than the seat. I've done quite a few 600 + milers in my day also. Sure there is some discomfort and soreness to be expected but not to the degree you are experiencing. Couple things I tend to do: 1. Stand up and relieve the pressure every 10-15 minutes. 2. STAY DRY! If you're sweating, the moisture only add to the irritation. Try the powder or some gold bold. 3. On long slab trips, I use a piece of sheepskin on my seat. This helps a lot in the padding department. All that said, maybe you need to build up a tolerance? Once I went to a Sargent seat, I was pretty content but still needed to build up to sunrise/sundown days.
Oh, no! I hope it's not the dreaded "anal leakage" you hear so much about. Do this: 1) Monkey Butt Powder. 2) Sheepskin covered gel seat pad. 3) Scratch balls often to stimulate blood flow to your arse (and elsewhere).
ok ill try to reply back to all comments in one post.. im not overweight, or out of shape never used the monkey butt powder, but im sure ill give it a try i was thinking about those gel padded cycling pants, ill have to check them out further i am no stranger to long rides, i did 13 hours straight on a 04 R6 (1400 miles total in the trip we took though) i rode my vfr with the stock seat 900 miles in 2 days, and i had butt burn then to, its nto like i cant stand it, its jsut very annoying i do lift my butt off the seat and air it out so to speak, and try to reposition myself every so often to help out. no there is no anal leakage here. thought about trying the sheep skin seat cover thing, i heard they work well. i like my sargent seat.. i think it puts me in a good seating position, but like i said i still have the butt burn.
