I notice on my 2005 VFR I used to have to tail lights(running lights) and once I steped on the brake I got a single lower brake light, the upper bulb would turn off when pressing the brake. So I tried to correct the situation by switching the bulb and it did the same thing with a new bulb. Then I unpluged all the wiring in the back and started to check it with a test light and and blew the 10 amp fuse for the headlights and the instrument cluster by accident since I touched both leads in one of the connectors. After replacing the fuse I now had 2 brake lights(top and lower bulb) and 1 tailight lower bulb only. Is this behavior normal or should I have 2 tails and 2 brakes all the time?
Yes, you should have 2 tail running lights at all times and 2 additional brake lights........when you activate the brakes. Check wiring to determine whether a PO tried to install some aftermarket doo-dad, noteing splices, misappropriate wire colouration, etc.
I will try to thoroughly check the wiring this weekend, but I haven't has the recall done yet on my VFR, can that have something to do with it?
