    Hi all,
    Just joined as I now have a VFR1200FD (2012).
Can someone tell me whether the brake light should function when applying the rear brake pedal, or does it only function with the front brake lever?
    Thanks

Firstly, Welcome to Forum. From your post count and join date, I can only assume you may not have been a member for very long. Be sure to post up a few pics of your bike in the Introductions Forum and tell us a bit about yourself. Word of note, without the pics of the bike, there are those who may not truly believe you own a VFR, and you may be hassled to no end. LOL. I for one hope you find the Forum as useful and as friendly as I have and a BIG HELLO from across the pond.

Can't say for 100% about the VFR1200 but any bike I have owned the rear brake would come on regardless of which brake was applied, front or rear. That being said, on my fifth gen and my wife's 4th gen, there is an actuator rod (threaded plastic sleeve with a lock washer) attached to the foot brake and mounted to the rear set that is used to activate the brake light. There may be one on your bike as well and perhaps it just needs to be adjusted.

Here is a link where you can download the factory service manual for the VFR1200F. The link is for the manual transmission model, not the DCT version, but the process for adjusting the brake light contact may still be the same.

I'm sure someone here will be more able to properly answer the question for you but hopefully the manual link will provide you a bit of info.

Good luck, Ride Safe, and don't forget to keep her Shiny Side Up. :)
