Just about to replace pads front and rear on my 2007 30,000 mile baby. Discs have a bit of wear, bit of a lip round the edge. At what stage of wear would you replace??

When they are 3.5mm or less, or badly scored.

Thanks, think I’ll bite the bullet and just do them at the same time. Fact I’m even worrying about it probably makes it worthwhile!

    Oooft, 400 quid......

I was just about to add that there is a sticker shock associated with brake rotors but looks like you discovered that! There are after market rotors that are good alternatives but the cost isn’t that much less and sometimes even a bit more than OEM. Although cheaper, there are Chinese versions on eBay and other online outlets, I personally have not tried them, too chicken to take a chance to see if the Chinese quality is actually less as many claim. Two places to not take chances with quality, brakes and tires! I’m sure there are many instances where someone has used them without incident so just be cognizant of that and caveat emptor.

Ordered the OEM discs and pads, as you say brakes and tyres are the important things connecting us to Earth! Be happy to get another 30,000 Miles out of this set.

Assume you meant one set of front "pads". The last time I bought pads online, the web page had a note to remind me that if buying front pads, I might need two sets. At one time though, the VFR had the same pads for all calipers. I think the 06+ is where the fronts are different.
