Hello all. It's time for another journey into that alternate reality I like to refer to as Reggie's World.

After trying to do everything else, I decided I was gonna finally drain and refill my brakes lines. The fluid was pretty golden. Gear up, fix the headphones on my new cell phone so I can have some tunes while I ride.

Up to Kragen's. Pick up some brake fluid. I'm going with the valvoline sythetic stuff that says it meets or exceeds DOT 3 & 4. This should be good enough. Out the door, time to get these brakes done.

Probably should fill up the tank while I'm out. Done. Ok, now time to get started. Well, while I'm on the bike, I could get a short ride in. I have time. Ok, hit the 41 west exit toward morro bay.

Hmm, well I'm out this far, may as well look around. It's a nice day today. Brisk but not cold at all. Temp gauge says 61. Feels cooler but very nice. Let's take a left up here at this little side street and see where it goes...

Well, I guess it's a dead end. Rich folk up this way. I'm not gonna buzz through their private community. Not much chance of a thru street up there... Boy that's a big house up on the right.

Guess I'll get outta here and back on the 41. More traffic today than I expected on a Monday. Oh well, I'm in no hurry. I may pull out here at this little campground Cerro Alto and see where the road goes. Maybe some neat scenery. Glad this phone can snap pics while I'm listening to tunes.

Hmm, pretty nice. Maybe I should camp here sometime. Seems kind of weird to camp this close to home, though. It would be cool to hike some of these trails, though. Okay, back to hwy 41. I really should get to work on these brakes, but I may as well head west a little bit longer just to check the weather over there.

This new surface they put on is really nice. Too bad they don't close it down to cages once a week and let the 2 wheelers have some fun. Oh well, and monkey's might fly outta my butt.

Boy, it's a long way down there. Wonder if anyone ever goes over the side here.

Well, on to Morro Bay. I should get a pic of the big blue thing for the guys landlocked. Hmm, should I get one with the rock or just the waves... What the hell, I'll get both.

Well, I should head on back home now and do these brakes. But maybe I'll just take a short trip north for a bit and take Old Creek Rd back. It's not far out of the way, and there's plenty of daylight.

That was a good shot. The guy's will like that. What's this, a text message from Tori. 'Yep, I went to work.' Hmm, let's just send this photo since we just got his message. That's the nice thing to do for a buddy at work. ;) Hmm, back on the bike. Here's a different road to the left. Where does it go? Let's see...

Not bad. Other side of the resevior. Nice cows looking at me wondering why I'm on their road. Oh well. Back to Old Creek Road. Lots of cages out on OCR today. Prob wondering why I'm puling over and holding up my cell phone.

A little cooler up here between the hills. Hmm, 59 degrees. Bet it's almost that cold up there in the PNW now. hehe Too bad I don't have numbers for those guys, I could send them a current pic. That would be the nice thing to do.

Ok, back on the main road now. Hwy 46 e will get me home in a jif. Well, I could take a little detour on York Mtn Rd since I'm out this way. It's only a couple miles more. What the hell.

The road is not that great but wow there is some cool scenery. Gotta stay on the bike to snap a pic of this downhill. Neat trees back here.

Ok, back to hwy 46 e then one more pic and we'll head on home and take care of these brakes. I'll stop here where I can catch the vineyards and the turn onto vineyard drive.

Ok, that's enough. I am onto vineyard then Hwy 101 home. Gotta get these brakes done.

    Nuff said.

Well, hopefully you all enjoyed your journey into my alternate reality once again. I now return you to your regularly scheduled boredom.

Excellent pics, my friend. You are lucky to have good weather to ride in. I am jealous. Vinny's world is still cold and now rain has been added. BTW, did ya get the brakes done? lol

Hey Reg, Nice write up! Although you might want to see the downfall of using synthetic in your brake system...I think I read somewhere its not great for the stock rubber and seals.....just thought Id warn you before you went and did something you dont want to do...am I too late?

come on out. we're always open! :)

Got about half way through. Got new fluid in but it was getting dark so didn't quite finish up the air bleeding.

Oh great! Now you tell me. I have the new fluid in but I'm not done bleeding. Just how bad is this supposed to be? I looked at all the fluid Kragen had before deciding Valvoline probably knows their business!

Reg - I have used the Valvoline synth fluid in my bikes for years with no ill effects and good performance. (I forget the actual name of the stuff - its in a gold container - maybe syntech?)

    - I hear the crew over at 'Sport Rider' uses the stuff too.
I think what slovfr is refering too is using DOT 5 synth. That stuff will eat seals and is nasty stuff. It's generally a racing fluid only.

    (Nice red waffle grips...)

I thought all brake fluid was synthetic and calling it "synthetic" on the bottle was just playing to those that think if syn oil is better, syn brake fluid has to be too.
Agreed on #5, that's what you want to stay away from. Fresh shot of #4 and all is well.
Ride pic's are great! (There, had to get back on topic)

whew! Thanks for the quick reply. now to see if I can finish up before dark!

;) thanks. I get that a lot ( in a sarcastic tone ) love them, hate them, at least they're different from most everyone else. I have red ones on my blue YZ also but the previous owner put them on it.

I'm from Missouri, and I remember what it was like. I had the choice to live anywhere in the world when I got divorced and Cali is the first place I came. I was bikeless while I was working as a traveler, but as soon as I put down roots, I got a bike. I worked from Santa Barbara up to San Francisco so I'm familiar with the coast all through the middle and the roads here are the best. Of course, my new wife is why I settled here, but the year-round riding was helpful in the decision. When we get the youngest out of the house, we will probably start traveling again. Hopefully taking a bike with us. Not sure if it'll be a VFR or possibly something like a Duke. Who knows. We have lots of time before that happens. Anyway, you guys hang in there, and I'll keep taking pictures a gabbing like a schoolgirl after her first kiss.

    peace.

I really can't complain Reg--NW Virginia is a really pretty area, if you stay away from DC! Unless you want action of course.

Here in the northern Appalachia the hills make nice piedmont and riding, just nothing so dramatic as the NCA coast. Just stunning. I only spent one night there camping on our bikes on the way back from Vancouver on our trek. 100 miles N of San Fran. Cold beer, great riding. I remember highway 36 heading back east and will never forget the switchbacks and crazy scenery. I almost crashed like 3 times on one road, now thats fun!:hail:

I'm a chatty Cathy too!! Keep the pics comin':caked:

Being from SB I totally apprecaite those pics. Being currently in Las Vegas I can ride year round, but there aren't as many twisties as Cali. (But we get UFC fights - woot!)

Reg - I'm going to be working out of the SB office all next week. Drop me a line if you want to meet up for a Presidents Day ride. I wouldn't mid heading up to Morro Bay or Atascadero.

I'll be on the VFR as long as the weather forecast doesn't predict rain. If it's going to be rainy I'm taking the truck.

Here in Ohio we aren't so fortunate to have beautifull weather all year around. We were lucky recipients of about 8 inches of the white stuff yesterday. I just can't get the traction to ride in this weather............can't wait till spring rolls around!

Reg71, Sorry to butt in here. I think I am loosing my mind. Can't seem to be able to figure out how to start a post. Used to know but the brain has gone soft. Can you tell me how?

By the way I am jealous as hell. Last time I went for a ride I had ice forming on my visor from the fog. Brrrrrr!

No, He's mine first!!! He told me I was a old man and needed Viagra! Never realized I was getting old till that day, kind of like the first time a kid calls you Sir or Mr. , besides I don't need Viagra, all I have to do is think 1098 and I'm good to go. (LOL)

I hope we have a West Coast Convention, so we can ride together, after that ride Reg will be calling me Daddy :pound:
