Boxing Day 2011

Happy Boxing day

We get it and fortunately had to work. Boxing days are very quiet around here. :smile:

 

I just looked up the history of boxing day on the google machine, apparently Canadian women were and have been prone to whooping their husbands ass's just after Christmas and Boxing day was born. I read it on the internet so it must be true.

 

Yeah, we have to stop buying them hockey sticks and golf clubs for presents.

Clothes Irons and Rolling Pins as Christmas presents aren't much fun either. :biggrin:

 

Some historians write that one of the origins of Boxing Day was for better off people to pack up gifts and food after Christmas and give them as a reward to some of their servants. This act seened to encourcage the servant to continue to provide dedicated service and loyalty to the master. My servant was very good. Her name was Martita.

 

In SA we get an extra day due to the fact that Christmas fell on a Sunday!

 

In some areas the servants lived way out on the edges of the masters property. So they had to deliver the boxes by wagon. AND that's how UPS started.
