I keep blowing the 10 amp fuse common to the turn signals, brake lamp and horn on my 98 VFR. So far, I haven't found an obvious short. It occurs whenever I apply either brake. Any ideas?

It it only happens when you apply either brake, then it must be in the only common wiring that occurs after the switches. Check from the tank back. Or perhaps the sockets that house the bulbs for the brake lights.

On my 99 I was getting the same blown fuse, except mine was when the key was turned on. My problem was the wires right at the front brake switch. The power wire had rubbed through to the fork.

Alas, mine too appears to have been at the front brake switch. After a good cleaning and reassembly I have been trouble free for two weeks. Thanks for the info.
