So I've jumped into the bodywork on my '86. It's currently rattle can black from the previous owner. I've been removing cracked fibreglass patches and doing plastic welding with ABS. I've had to sand down through all the paint to the plastic to see what is there for cracks, and to weld them up. My side panels are whitish beige, semi-translucent pieces. My lower fairings are black.

All pieces were originally painted white. The side pieces do not appear to have a primer under the white, the lowers had a red primer under the white. I'm assuming the lowers are not stock due to the red primer and black ABS. Who made black ABS aftermarket fairings for the '86 VFR?

Interesting. I hope the side panels are ABS then. They feel stiffer but I attributed that to being smaller. They do have some flex and the plastic weld appears to have bonded very well. They definitely are not fibreglass.

    Thanks for the info.

Could be Maier aftermarket lowers, if it is OEM it should have and ML7 in the code on the inside of the panels.
