Bill 117 - Prohibiting Riders Under 14

Just thought I would pass on this little known new law possibly coming into effect up here in Ontario.

This new law will prevent any parent from taking their children under the age of 14 for ride on their bike. Regardless of the rider's age and/or skill level or the bike they chose to ride. And there is no provision for the child's size to account for different size children who can properly and safely sit on the pillion and use the foot pegs etc. The only restriction on the bill is age 14.

Nanny laws like that go WAY beyond the responsibility of government. There are laws here that kids under 16 are not allowed to ride quads/dirtbikes/etc over 90cc's. It is plain rediculous! I hope the bill does not pass!!

 

this sucks ass!!! maybey they should make it mandatory harnesse where the kids are attached to the parent by way of a five point harness?

 

PLEASE! For the love of riding, DON'T give these jackass politicians any damn ideas. We all know you're kidding but these morons would actually think that is a good idea.

BTW folks, there is NO reason why you folks not in Ontario so sign the petition. The only thing it requires is your name and a email address. And you can keep your information private.

I mention this because if any of you grace us with your presence in our fine province of Ontario, you MUST abide by this law too. So if you cross the border into Ontario with your child on the back, you would been in violation of this ridiculous law.
