Hi guys i bought a honda vfr 750 91 a while back and it had a stator problem which i changed but any time i tried starting the bike, it took a while but eventually started or if the battery runs down it jumped started fine. i took it for a ride the other day, the bike performed perfectly. i tried starting today with a new battery, it makes a turning sound but wouldnt start tried jump starting it which always worked before and it wouldnt start. any ideas as to what the problem might be?

    Back so soon?

    I thought this sounded familiar - http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthread.php/50755-Honda-vfr-750-91-wont-start?p=513530

I know most forums encourage people to keep posts brief - but the downside is it may mean stuff which might be pertinent can get overlooked. So in this instance we need more information to stand any chance of understanding what is happening - let alone suggest what you need to do to get the bike running.

So - is this the same problem which you finally have time to return to?
If not, has the problem returned after a period with the bike running OK? (If so - what if anything did you change - new battery? new RR? new Stator?)

If you did "The Drill" what were the results? If you still have the numbers available please list the results hot and cold?

Obviously as the bike is no longer starting - you are not going to be able to run the full Drill tests now. So start with the basics.

    Check you have fuel.
If the bike has a petcock make sure it is open. (probably irrelevant but I don't know what year Honda gave up fitting them).
Check the battery is fully charged.
Check starting circuit is good to go - kill switch/neutral/kick stand/clutch

If possible post up a short video so we can hear what is happening when you try to start the bike.

Inherently we need to home in on what is wrong - basically these bikes need fuel, air and a spark to run. Currently at least one of those items is missing.

When you go through the usual start procedure..

    - ignition to on - can you hear the fuel pump priming?
    - starter button pressed - what can you hear? - engine cranking (fast or slow) nothing/clicking sound?
    - starter button pressed - what can you see? Weird behavior on the Dash - clocks resetting?
    - turn on dipped beams the starter button pressed - do the lights dim/go out?

Hopefully the above will give us a better understanding of what is happening, and allow you to focus on whatever is preventing the bike from running.

    Good Luck
