For the last couple of weeks my bike has decided to keep me on my toes by (apparently) randomly dying on me. I'll be riding, it'll start losing power, as though it's not getting fuel, then it dies. First time took me a few mins to get it running by just starting the engine as is (run pos, no choke). It seems to start faster by putting the choke on. First time it died twenty mins into a ride, then was fine for rest of day. Next time it died 1 hr into ride, then again 2 hrs later. Today it died 1.5 hrs into ride, started, then died two mins later, then ran fine for the next hour. Some days it doesn't have a problem at all. I'm thinking this must be a fuel problem, probably the fuel pump relay is on the fritz, (as I believe that if it's the fuel pump it would lose power at high rms) Runs fine most of the time, so I doubt its spark or air related. Any ideas? What should I check out, I doubt checking the fuel pump relay will do me any good as it just dies sporadically...should I just replace it?

    Hi,
Typical fuel pump relay problem. Disconnect it, insert a wire jumper. Turn ignition "on" and You will hear a little noise arising from the fuel pump : this means that the pump works.
A bad relay blocked my VFR 750 ('87).
Squirrelman, in a post, teached me this system. Since that time no more problems with fuel feeding. Try it !
