Found a 5TH Gen in great condition with all the bells and whistles that I would ever want.
Exhaust, upgraded front forks from a CBR, Penske Triple Clicker out back. Great paint.
    The list was extensive.

    Only thing, high mileage...So what!

Use the parts on my bike and turn the high-mileage one to a naked bike similar to a dream bike I've seen on the net.

Well, the owner discouraged me, and bam, I missed out.

Hated it. Second time an owner afar gauges whatever socio-economic mumbo-jumbo and discourages the sale.

Sadly, when I went to hit BIN, another fellow got the bike.

Sad face, sad face. Just like the last time, a bike for sale in Escandero, CA.

    Bummer.

Found and OHLINS H0941 on eBay that was said to be taken from a VFR. Paid $219 with free S&H.
Contacted OHLINS of USA. A technician confirmed the SCORE!

I believe since it was taken from a VFR that it would have all the necessary technical mechanical aspects for the bike
taken care of. I will be sending it to either OHLINS or Daughtery Motorsports along with RC51 love.

    Pics when they arrive.
    Some from the site...

How'd I do after such a bummer? Have two VFR examples, a '99 and '04. Turning the '04 to work horse and the '99 into a pretty
and pretty capable track-day bike to hone my skills. Now for the elusive triple clicker!

I waited years to get a 3gen bike. Missed out on a 4thgen because my wife had my car with the trailor hitch. Next day i bought one for my jeep. Like i said if your patient and comb CL, you can do ok. I got a penske for my bike from a doode dismantling a vfr advertised on CL. Luck helps too.

Learned something. Was almost positive that the piggy back reservoir shocks would not fit a 5g or 6g VFR.

Been doing some research about that. It seems on a 5TH Gen, it's just a plug-in and go. On a 6TH Gen, yes, the piggy back reservoir interferes. I have been looking into that on VFRDiscussion. There, a member did add the 929 shock with some work to the proportioning valve mounting bracket and had to push the metal brake lines that were in the way up a little bit--the brake lines near the rear cylinder head. Jamie Daugherty is even on the discussion.

It is a great thread. Try a Google search including these terms--VFRDiscussion.com, 19712-vtec-shock-options. Particularly page 2, post #74.
