Would you please help me with a recommendation for a jacking point, to be able to remove the front wheel, without removing body panels?

I've got my '86 vfr700 backed in to a lift, with tie downs on the rear pegs (please see attached photo).

My thought was to use a car scissor jack and a block of wood under the rear suspension linkage.

Using an engine lift with straps off the handlebars doesn't have a straight vertical lift, due to engine lift and bike lift interferences with each other.

The speedometer gear in the front wheel has gone bad (yes, I tested both the cable, and the speedometer).

I just put a board across the two front headers with a jack under. I do it all the time, on multiple 86 VFRs, with zero issues.

My bike is a 6th gen but I don't think that matters a lot. I don't have my bike up on a lift when I work on it so I just run a floor jack under the exhaust and fairings, while tucking the jack handle as far to the rear as I can. I have never damaged anything underneath doing this. You are only putting a maximum of 10 pounds of pressure to lift the front enough to let the rear wheel hit the ground.

I use what sixdog uses, for all my bikes, it's a handy thing to have around.

That works. Except now you are responsible for some poor old Ford being without its car jack. Ysk Tsk!

2X4 and sizzors jack under the oil pan with the bike leaning slightly to the right against a wall or post. do all the bolt and axle loosening b4 the bike goes up.

jacking on the shock linkage will put alot of weight on the front end.
