I need new rubber and my chain has seen better days.
I've been running dunlop for a couple seasons, I'm not an aggressive rider, I just commute and what not on clear days. (I'm open to suggestions on what I should order)
I'm thinking a Xring DID chain?

Wheres the best place to order from? I'm in Canada, but even with our weak dollar it can still be better to order from the US.(and I have a US shipping address for such times)

    Thanks for the help.

    I'm on a 5th gen

I've found the best tire deals at Jakewilson.com. For all 3 bikes the place I bought my sprockets and chains was sprocketcenter.com. Mostly because they're local and I could will call them but also they had good deals on JT sprockets and D.I.D chains. All my bikes now have x-ring chains and so far no issues.

Chilliwack? There are 2 members on this forum from Chilliwack? Are you as fucked up as Randy?

As for tires, damn near everyone will swear by Michelin PR4. If your just commuting, you should probably get 10-14,000 miles out of them - whatever that is in KM.

Chain and sprockets...yes do them both... Sprocket Center. I've bought from them a couple times and no complaints. Last set was a DID 530 ZVMX series Ultra Heavy Duty X'ring rated for 1400cc. Part # 30ZM2-GG. You can get one a bit cheaper for less but I ordered this one by mistake and it is holding up very well. Matter of fact, according to my notes, there is 30,000 km on the chain and sprockets and no issues yet. With that I got the 530 Steel Sprocket set. Part # SC1080003-16-43-5. Price for these shipping included was $274.00. That might have been cheaper if I had shipped to Sumas Washington.

I can't put my finger on where I bought my present Michelin PR4's but I have bought a couple sets of tires from Pete's out of Quebec. They were about the cheapest. But you are going to pay $90 - $100 to get those mounted and ballanced at a shop so unless you have a source for that, keep this in mind when considering where you buy you tires.

I just bought both from Canada's Motorcycle

Best prices on both tires and chain. Also comes with FREE SHIPPING on orders over $49 and they take Interac EMT as well!!

I've order a lot of stuff from them lately and I haven't been let down once yet. I ordered the DID 530VX X-Ring chain and it's great so far!

For the front sprocket, I highly recommend the OEM one from Honda. Yah, you pay a little more but IMHO it's a better made front sprocket and has rubber for dampening on it. It seems to be a better material and easier on the front output spline.

($185 CAD for a Michelin PR2 delivered to my door - just arrived today actually!!)

That's gotta be just one tire. Still. Hard to beat that price. If you are a fair weather rider, you may not want to spend the extra few bucks on the PR4 although it apparently has a much harder compound at the center of the tire which lasts longer for your commuting.

Yup .. that was the rear tire. Ran over a nail that road construction crews used to secure temporary overlay markers to the road. I'm pissed about that and have contacted MB Highway Claims. That tire was brand new at the end of last season and easily had more than 50% of the tread left.

The set would have cost me about $320 shipped to my door. I'm actually thinking of ordering the front as well now ... although I feel like it's got more than 60% of it's life still which should last me my trip into MI.

I'm riding on PR2's and they are holding up awesome, and I commute in all weather

They have a firmer side wall. They are meant for the heavier touring bikes.

so in our case, would that give them more mileage, and or ride better if with a passenger?... are their disadvantages for the small price difference?

You don't need the heavier rated tire. The basic PR4 is all you need. I travel quite heavily loaded withh gear and have no sidewall issues in the slightest.

In theory it would be better when you load up the bike, but as Randy said no need to get the GT, the standard PR4 should be more than sufficient. I have varying weights on my 6 Gen and so far it hasn't shown that I need anything more that the standard PR4.
