I'm trying to make my bike more comfortable for commuter use, as well as cruising weekends with my girlfriend (We typically do 200+ miles a day). Looking for opinions on the best bar risers for my '98. Also interested if anyone has any for sale as I recall the classifieds section not working super well last time I tried.

    Thanks!

I had the GenMar risers. They are well made, look good, and sit you up better than the stock bars. That said, I sold them, bought HeliBars and a Sargent seat....WOW, night and day!!! No more squirmy monkeybutt after 50 miles, I can ride all day now!!! Also I'm going to recommend a Zero Gravity sport touring or Double Bubble windscreen. I have the ST but have heard the DB works well too.

Don't know about "best", but I have put over 17,000 miles on my 2004 since I installed the Genmar risers.
For the money, I would do it again.

If money is no problem, then the Helibars deserve a look. Never seen them or used them.

I have Gen-Mar's on mine. Still some pressure on the wrists and I also notice my nether regions going numb if I am on the bike more than an hour. However, riding position is quite good for the bike's intended purpose of sport touring.

I am debating if I want to just re-upholster the seat to reduce pressure on the old prostate, or try a set of Heli Bars.

Risers - do just that, the only raise the bar height and are limited by the available length of fork stems and windshield clearances. Helibars rise the bars up and also bring them nearer to you, which makes a big reduction to the weight on your wrists. Helis are more expensive but really are well worth the extra bucks. If you are not intending to use your VFR as a full time track bike, you won't regret fitting them for everyday use. The supplied instructions for Helibars are not brilliant, but somewhere on here there is a brilliant thread showing step by step photos which makes it simple. Getting the dampers out of the old bars can be a chore, but just read the whole thread and you will see several easy and quick ways to get the damper out, and you are good to go.

I've not used the Genmar risers, but I can attest to ride improvement with the Heli-bars. They sit you up just enough to allow you to look around easier and take a lot of weight off your wrists.

One of the best things I've put on my '99.
