I have just bought a 1999 VFR800 and find the bars too low. I get sore neck. Does anyone have any comments as to which bar risers are best? I have fond GenMar and Heli ion the net. Are ther others?

I have HeliBars on my 1994. They work great, the only problem is that if I turn the bars all the way to the right, the engine cut off switch runs into the windscreen and turns the bike off! Minor annoyance, but I'm curious if anyone else has ever run into this issue.

I have helibars ordered. Just tried the Genmar risers but want to be up a little higher. Will be selling the Genmars. Both are easy to install. Genmars much easier and cheaper.

    Hey..

A bar riser is a spacer which fits under the O.E bars and raises them. Helibars are complete new bars which are higher and more swept back. Hence the huge price difference.

Although I am somewhat biased, I found helibars completely ruin the handling, although the roads I ride aren't straight for mile after mile...

Hi I have genmars and find they work very well. Easy fitted and occassionally available on various forums/ebay at approximately half price. I particularly liked that I could put the bars out slightly rather than sweep them back.

Got these ones from Ebay, UK vendor who obviously sold dozens of them with loads of very good feed-backs. The finish is impressive, anodized alu, it's sturdy and takes 10/15 minutes tops installation time the 1st time you install them. The slight adjustment - 20mm- changes a lot in terms of comfort: no pressure on wrists at all, but still very easy to get into a more sport attitude in order to push the motorcycle when wanted. Fits fine: no need for longer cables or so, does not bump in tank or fairings. Pretty good buy for me.
