I have used two different sets of bar end mirrors on my vf750f. If you check my pics you'll see the napolean mirrors I had on before which I have since changed to the small round ones (like the crg bar ends). Bar end mirrors look the best in my opinion and really get rid of all the clutter but I also don't care much for all the extra junk on bikes (plastics, bags, etc). I'll post a pic soon of the bar ends I purchased on ebay for about $20 shipped.

I tried them on my '98, but it didn't work out. I couldn't find a pair short enough not to drag on the road in the corners.

They look great! What is visibility like? I have the stock units and they are terrible. The vertical range sucks, so if the road behind you isn't perfectly flat you loose a huge amount of range.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but one of the most important things for a bike to be comfortable to ride for me, is a good set of mirrors...

Hey, tell me where did you get those indicators? They are about the only "mini" indicators of seen that suit the mid 80s styling of the VF. Most look seriously out of place...

The bike was missing mirrors when I bought it from PO, so I can't compare them to stock. I will say the view is mediocre but better than nothing, a slightly larger diameter would help. If I hang onto this bike (considering selling), I'll doing something to improve the current mirrors.

The bike had the turn signals already on it when I bought it, no brand markings on them, sorry.

I did all the paint myself, and yes I know I need a wind screen...

Bar end mirrors work great! $16 for the pair. Ebay Special. It's a little hard to get them on if you have the stock bars. I had to grind off the ridge that would normally be used as a groove for safety wire on the hand-grips. I also had to mill away a bit of the throttle, but it hasn't affected the handling or performance any.

    @Lucas:

The visibility on them is just fine. It's fairly narrow, but I have them adjusted so I can see cars coming from lanes adjacent from me (for commuting). I just turn my head for bigger looks. I'll re adjust them as my quick rear view needs change.

I have similar turn signals as well. You can find them from any dealer that uses Parts Unlimited as it's distributor. They are generic ones and should run about $20 a pair. If you have a 750 you will need to make your own mounting brackets for the rears, I think. Two small pieces of spare aluminum work good. Should be able to be bought at a local hardware store for cheap if you don't have any. I took the "hand-rail" off of my bike so you should be able to use the existing holes from them if you are keeping them on. Also the wiring up front is real tight with the ones I used. If you take the Headlight off when you are hooking up the turn signals it'll be much easier.

Picked up a pair of Napoleon bar end mirrors off of Craig's List two days ago. Stopped by the store and picked up a new pair of grips (mine were tired anyway) that would look good with the ends trimmed off. With great anticipation, I cut off the old grips and pulled off the bar endcaps.

Seems Honda has plugged the bar ends with a metal plug (perhaps for weight/balance?). I pulled out my drill motor and a 1/4 inch bit and, figuring to drill it out, started drilling. The stuff was tough! I drilled in about a half an inch w/o finding the end of it. I figured, What the Hell?, and pulled the grips off of my Nighthawk 750 to install them there and the bars were plugged on them too! Has anyone run into this? Do I have to replace my bars to install the mirrors?

    I'm totally pissed.

Christ it has been a while since I posted. Anyway, I had to drill my stock bars to get the mirrors to fit as they are solid (not hollow whatsoever). I also had to cut away at the actual mirror bar insert/expander so that it would fit in the narrow hole I made. I drilled in maybe 2-3 inches to get the mirrors to fit all the way in.

I ran the modified napolean mirrors and drilled stock bars set up for a while with no problems until I finally picked up a set of clip ons that were hollow. I switched over to the round mirrors at that point.

If you're resourceful you can get it to work. Best of luck.

I was afraid somebody was going to say that...Thanks a bunch for the info tho. I think it's worth it. Looks like it's time to test out my Craftsman drill motor! Will let you know how it goes.

How did you clear out the bar ends? I figured on drilling and using a rat-tail file.

    Thanks again, this forum rocks!

I just kept drilling until I reached the largest size bit then rinsed out the hole with a spray bottle I had handy. The hole was too small for the bar end so I had to shave the bar end insert down with a razor to get it small enough to fit but still big enough to fit tightly when tightened. I also had to grind the tightening nut to a circle so that it would fit in the hole. It is a tight enough fit that it still works fine.

I later used the bar end mirrors on another project bike with normal sized hollow bars by just buying a small piece of rubber tubing found at ACE hardware store.
