I've been lurking here and there, once in a while, whats that saying. Once bitten by V4 power and all, it never leaves. With me still lusting for whats to come, as I'm not a fan of the new VFR ,and the Vtec version is sort Bland to me. 4th gens are great, but they are getting dated, so that said, wonder if there's any one here that loves a V4 and has seen what Aprilia has done and come out with? Looking pretty good to me, just sad Honda can't get it together. 2011 Aprilia Tuono V4 R 01 Photo 1
Ummm, yeah... My riding buddy wrecked his Falco, and I constantly was on him to buy the V4, since he got back into biking after seeing me on the 5th gen then went out and got a 6th gen before trading it for the Falco. Then we go on a ride with his cousin or something that has a Factory and Im like holy shit thats a clean bike. To quote Strother Martin: "Some people you just cant reach" Btw despite all this, Im still gonna get a BMW S1000RR hehehhehee Oh , and my buddy replaced the Falco, ......with a Tuono.....sigh.
its nice but....I just don't like the naked look....naked girls yes... naked bikes eh.not to keen on them
That's the rub RVFR, only the Italians are making V4's and they are not cheap and support for the machines is expensive. Not REAL expensive, but pricy enough that most working class guys and gals can't quite afford them. I agree the V4 is a great engine. I've ridden one for 10 years of my total 12 years of riding. Riding other machines is weird as the power comes on ina totally different way. It's expensive to manufacture and unless racing on all levels goes back to a V4 configuration, I doubt we will see many street bikes, especially from Honda and the other guys, ever have the V4 again. But like you I am a dreamer, except I hope the two strokes will make a come back LOL! BZ
Must admit it looks good for a naked, certainly better than Ducs new monster. Not sure of the range of the new V4 Tuono but a mate that went from a Gen 5 in '04 to the older model '02 Tuono just changed to a GSXR1000 after getting frustrated with the Tuonos less than 125 mile range mind he loved the Vtwin sound and with mod chip and pipe its instant RSVR like grunt. '02 Tuono
I'm not sure where you found that picture but the actual photos of the '11 Tuono don't look nearly as good. Here's what it's actually going to look like: http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/bikes/2011-aprilia-tuono-v4r/ That front end isn't pretty but the specs (and bike) are amazing. 162 hp, 80 lb-ft torque, and all the APRC goodies. Plus it'll be more comfy than an RSV4. It will be a wonderful bike and I'm sure anyone who gets one will love the performance. I'm guessing that other picture is either an older model, a show bike, or a prototype?
Good catch, I was looking for a current photo via Google LOL guess I was to excited when i saw one that had color, didn't catch the details, yea that's the one all right. Less an exhaust mod I'm liking it and what sorta is ok mind ya, is it's approx. $14k sticker. throw on some soft bags and one is good to go. I wonder how she sounds?
I don't blame you, it's a killer bike. I like it too although I'd have to get used to that front fairing. Same can be said for quite a few bikes these days though, like the BMW S1000RR mentioned above. I think $14k is more than reasonable for this bike. I mean, it's basically a semi-naked APRC for $8500 less! That pays for the exhaust mod and then some.
Have only heard one on the road with an aftermarket end can and thought it sounded good but also thought a friends '09 Crossplane cranked R1 with full Akra sounded better. Being totally unbiased I also think my catless Gen 5 with Carbon Arrow sounds even better again.
Please Honda bring us a sporty v4 no 600 pound wash-up (sorry to the people who like the 1200). I think the new tuono looks pretty good, it needs a brighter color though
Speaking of sound, so was in the garage this afternoon doing this and that, when I heard a sound out on the street heading my way. which of course perked my interest. First off thought was either a blown chev with gear driven cams or.... bingo white 3rd gen with a Yosh can. Funny how if you are caught off guard what the VFR sounds like of years past, damn nice. Yea I need to hear this new beast.
