I am normally on the other VFR site but I thought I would share my weekend ride over here too.

This trip was a little hard to plan due to a timing thing. Long story short, we had these dates to be able to take a long weekend or we would not be able to do one at all. The "We" is me and my wonderful girlfriend! Thankfully everything worked out and we were able to head to North Carolina for a great weekend of riding!

We stayed at the Iron Horse. I have to say, I was impressed with the staff and the place. Everyone there was great!

I worried a little about the weather but we ended up with perfect conditions. No rain at all and the temperatures were great.

First afternoon we rode from about 1pm till almost dark when we got back to the Iron Horse. We hit the area around the Dragon and including the Dragon. It was quiet on the Dragon that Thursday afternoon so it was really nice to ride it.

Friday we started to ride right after breakfast and headed south to some waterfalls. On the way we found some really cool back roads to ride with some neat things to see. One was un-paved for a good bit and ended up being one of our favorites! Hit some of the Blue ridge that afternoon too before heading back for the night.

Saturday we headed to the Cherohala Skyway since we had not been on it before. It was fun but not as scenic as we were expecting. We rode into Tennessee that day and back around through the national forest up there. Found some really cool back roads and great things to see.

We actually rode very easy, I even let a few cruisers pass me. We were in no rush at all and just enjoyed cruising the roads and soaking up the great county views.

The bike did great but I do have to say that riding one long half day and two full days was making me want a new seat and getting the bars up a little higher! Overall though, the VFR did a great job.

We did not take a lot of pictures but I will include a handful below. Some are just cell phone pictures and others are from my girlfriend's camera which is worth more than my VFR is.

We also saw a handful of other fellow VFR riders too.

Interesting, I was over in NC myself from 8/15 - 8/18. Different purpose though, spent the 16/17th at the Cornerspin school. I like the Dragon for its scenery, but its over-ridden on the weekends, love the Cherohala (cherry-cola to some). BTW, cute girlfriend, you, not so much ... okay, j/k ('bout you, GF is cute) :chaingun: ...

We actually road the Dragon on Thursday afternoon and there was almost nobody on it when we rode. It was really nice to ride it like that too. Last time we were up there on a weekend, it was really crowded.

And I agree with you about my girlfriend being cute!
