you live on the West side....PM marrib here on the forum...he lives on the southeastside of the valley...but it aint that far ( awatukee) there are others but cant think of them off hand
SR 88 from AJ to Tortilla Flat......and beyond until it turns to dirt. A narrow Indian trail enlarged to a road by the WPA in the 30s with loads of curves (most of them blind), elevation changes, great scenery, and 1000 foot drop-offs without guardrails. Some exciting, sharply downhill decreasing-radius turns on the way back which may or may not be covered with sand or gravel. Somewhere to go at moderate speed, with caution. Lotsa po-pos and squids and tourists with boat trailers. SR 87 PHX to Payson.... Beautiful high speed superslab, flat-out top speed potential, very scenic and extremely challenging with areas of 60-mile views and some mountain settings. Mind the tar snakes and Sheriffs. SR 89 PHX to Prescott Curvy, well-maintained, scenic road through forests and mountains. If you don't have much time, a quick trip up South Mountain. .................... Something to remember about AZ riding is that the entire state is composed mostly of 3 parts ( like Caesar's Gaul) : sand, gravel, and creosote bushes. Expect sand or gravel anywhere, and ride accordingly. If you're riding in town beware of Minnesota and Iowa license plates and anyone driving a Cadillac.
Also the ride to Mt Lemon is a treat. Safford to Alpine. The Vulture Mine road to Wickenburg is supposed to be a good ride. MrDen has done that. I have not.
Welcome aboard. You didn't mention where you're located. I'm in Maricopa, and mostly ride during the week. I'm usually up for a ride to just about anywhere, and have done most of the really good ones, as mentioned by others in this thread. If you're in/near the valley and want to ride, shoot me a PM and we'll get together.
sorry guys im in peoria and ive got the day off on monday so lets try to set up a ride if anyones done to.
