are parts hard to find for 86 vf500f ?

seems all the parts I need are not to be found.I'm trying to get this back on the road but can't find parts easily. my biggest challenge is finding a gas tank.


I guess what I'm asking is are parts normally this hard to find for this model ?

 

Typically, the availability of parts on eBay will pretty well reflect the availability in general.
Depends on the parts. These bike were only made 3 years 30 years ago.
Things like body work, exhaust, etc... yes hard to find.
And the 86 has some surprisingly big differences to the 84 - 85 (discussed to death, time for search function)
