Anyone racing a first oe second Gen?

    Only if it's a VFR.

    I wouldn't take a VF too high in the RPMs without wincing.

    That's why your called Slowbird. ;) There's nothing wrong with the 1st gen 750's. Matter of fact mine will hit 10500 all day and be happy. The first gen has 40sq inches more of front brake and 25 more rear, 1mm larger fork tubes with a fork brace. The motor is as strong as the 2nd gen in real life. Handles better over all. Only things you really need, on any bike, is braided brake lines, adjustable rear shock and forks, racing type brake pads and good tires to have fun.
