Anyone out there heard anything about (or actually using) Scott's Performance Oil Filters? From looking at their website, they look pretty good. Pricey up front, but in the long run I think it might be well worth it. Alot better construction. Here's a link.

Looks like they make them for most all VFR's. Check it out and let me know what everyone thinks.

They are a nice piece to have. I especially like being able to see what exactly is being filtered out of the oil....kind of like being able to see into the future, so to speak. Another plus is you can ignore all of the oil filter threads that pop up.

I especially like the "Magnetic Pre-Filtering". That will help show if there is any wear and tear on the engine.

I looked at these before 35 microns is quite small but a premium filter like the Kand N oil filter will do like 10 microns!!
From a cost perspective this filter may last you the life of your bike but It has no where near the filtering capacity as a premium oil filter.

If other guys here are saying the filter is good I will also give it go...

Be ready to take it of very carefully when changing the oil....I think they are $100

Make sure it's tight, my friends came loose on his ZX12 at 100 mph and was a little hairy with the rear wheel spin. He's a good mechanic, it was tight but they need to be tighter than a normal filter.

That part isn't mentioned on their website. It would probably be included in the install instructions if there was a torque for it, wouldn't it? I'm still looking into whether or not to get one. Seems like a good buy, but still unsure. Thanks all for the comments. If there is anyone else out there that has had any type of experience (positive or negative) with this, chime in. Thanks.

It's clever, and good for the environment since you're not putting old filters in the trash. But, how long will it take before it pays for itself? You can buy many conventional filters for the price of the Scott unit. And, how many miles on your bike? Maybe use it on a brand spanking new bike, but an older bike like yours is 'broken in', probably not going to make a difference. Many VFR motors have endured with a spin-on, and Im sure yours will continue to do the same. Keep the dough in the pocket for something special, like flowers for your lady!
