Any used VFR models to avoid?

    In the market for a cycle and am interested in a VFR. I really don't care if its a 700, 750 or 800 but am wondering reliability wise are there any years or models to avoid? Thanks Bob

    Pick whatever looks the best to you. They all are more or less bulletproof. Just search Google for info on particular years.

    I think it would be safe to say that if the VFR had a weak link it would be in regards to the chagrin system. More often than not not it is simply an issue of replacing the R/R and you're good to go.

    In regards to the best model, I would simply suggest getting the newest model year that you can afford for your price range. The VFR switched from carbureted to fuel injected in 1998 and also increased in displacement from 750cc to 800cc in the same year. The older the bike you get the more difficult it will be to find parts should anything break, especially in the regards to replacement body and fairing parts.

    The overall VFR in general is one of the more reliable bikes and the engines will last forever it seems as long as they are looked after with regular maintenance.

    They're all equally subject to familiar electrical chaos, but gens 1 to 3 have heavier, more-robust wiring..
