mmm... I want(but prefer to the newer black ones)...but alas... I cannot afford the insurance of a race replica bike. At least not on college student wages...

That is what is nice about being old; insurance is not a problem but the wife is and the kids always need something like food clothes and such.

I've got one Lime Time, and you're right they are a worthwhile piece of exotic machinery to add to your stable if you can get your hands on one. Mine is a heavily modded '04 Nicky Hayden Replica. We just finished painting the stock silver tail section Winning Red to match the fairing last week. RC51's are equipped with gear driven cams, and I can tell you that the gear whine they make is every bit as sweet as that of a VFR. In the twisties RC51's are "A Grin A Minute" thrill ride machines. Drive them in a straight line for any great length of time however, and you'll just want to hang yourself. Here are a couple of pics of mine for you Lime Time. Thanks for posting.

Soundmaster31,my buddy Pez would wholeheartedly agree with you that the black RC51's are the definitive word in cool. He actually had first dibs to buy the bike that I own, wife said no. He's still pissed that I bought it.

STOSH, my brother, no judgement here but I have to say something. You PAINTED a Nicky Hayden RC-51!! I think you must be criminally insane!

    Expect the unexpected.

Just the tail piece Havcar, and those are the stock factory decals. To my eye the stock silver tail piece always looked out of place on the bike. The paint scheme just seems to flow better with the red painted tail section. I've seen several Nicky Hayden Replicas painted this exact same way on the RC51 forums that I post on. It's actually a fairly common mod Havcar. If I ever wanted to change it back it's as simple as bolting on a stock silver one. You see them on Ebay all the time.

just over 500/year for liability through progressive, and im 20.

wait, i lied, sorry. ive got some medical coverage in my insurance that i forgot about. so liability with 5000 worth of medical on the vfr is the same as just liability for a rc51.

oooooh liability only. I see. $500 a year for liability plus $5k medical on your 3rd gen? Thought that'd be quite a bit cheaper. Hmm...

I also have an 04 RC for sale also. Bought Silver 05 In Nov. Have not had any serious buyers yet so I'm riding it when I feel the need For speed. I could have had a 08 VFR Silver But I was too tight to trade and take a beating at the dealership $.

eh, I had full coverage on my 1998 with $500 deductibles through Progressive in 2007 when I was 21 and it was less than $550 for the year.

i thinkits about the same price for full coverage for me too, but i opted for some medical coverage, because i have no health insurance. just liability alone was like 250, but the medical bumps it up a lot.

    Hey Stosh!

Hey Stoshmonster, Drop me a line some time if you need someone to ride that RC like its made to be ridden. Till then, keep it off the fast line, you just get in the way!
