Hi guys, my name is Andy and I've just become a born again, again biker at 54 years young. I was commuting to Glasgow by train but the train company, Scotrail is doing some major work to the station in Glasgow which was going to add another 50 mins a day to my travel time. This was a fantastic excuse to get the wife to let me get a bike. So I picked up a 6th gen with only 20 thousand on the clock. So 30 miles between Stirling (Alloa to be precise) and Glasgow mostly on motorway often with heavy traffic especially near Glasgow where I end up filtering between cars for miles - it is legal (ish) in the UK. Thankfully it can be a different story in the evening especially if I work late - I hit 120 one evening last week for a quick blast as the roads where totally clear and safe. First impressions of the VFR are that it's way too much fun at high speeds but a bit temperamental in town and on wet, 'watch out for the diesel spillage' roundabouts. I've had a few scary moments when the front end seems to want to wash out at very low speeds - I even put my foot down the other night cause I thought it was going down. Oh, and I'm a short arse as we say here so can only just reach the ground with the bike stopped. I did do a lot of off-road stuff in my teens and twentys though and I've done a lot of freeride mountain biking too so fairly good at the slow speed balancing act. Anyway here's a photo of me with the bike.
Welcome SpeedM. Stay awhile. Nice psychology on the Missus. Enjoy that sweet VFR, You will have so much fun. Laker
