Hello all... i got a new battery installed not to long ago, and the bike ran fine although i was running it without the headlights hooked up. i reconnected the headlights and went for a ride... and now the battery is toast. i'm guessing it's the rectifier. it's a '98 with roughly 45K miles on it. So... most people recommend an aftermarket rectifier rather than the stock unit?

I went with the updated Honda part, it has a least twice the fins that the old stock one. It an ez install. I've had it for about 2 months so far so good.

I'm more of a mechanical geek so goin' aftermarket on electronix unless you know what your doing doesnt sound like a good idea to me. Some guys here have talked about rewiring with the aftermarket part and well... I can barely wire a light socket so its stock Honda electrical stuff for me. Just plug and play.
