I have an 06 with Leo's and a BMC filter on the way. Is it recomended to install a PCIII with this set-up? And, do I need the O2 eliminators if I purchased the bike in MD? And can someone remind me what the advantages are? Norcalboy mentioned that he was getting worse fuel milage with the PC3. I thought one of the bennys was better fuel economy.
Type in Power Commander in the search bar and you'll have plenty of reading. I have an 04 with after market exhaust and a BMC filter. I don't have a PCIII, yet, and the bike runs fine (keep in mind I'm at 5800' above sea level). I plan on getting one early next year. The main befits are that it allows you to fine tune you fuel delivery to any mods you've made. As far as mileage goes - I've heard of people getting a little worse mileage with a PCIII. Is it because the bike feels stronger and they are running it harder, or because they are running a richer map? I haven't seen any hard data yet but I think it would probably be a little of both. I defiantly think a custom map would be worth the money. Action
Ride it after all those mods are installed and then decide. If it's not smooth, a PC will most likely fix any problems. If you do go with it, you will need the o2 eliminators. There's no such thing as a "California" VFR (6th gen, at least), so a MD VFR is the same as a Ca VFR. You will get worse fuel mileage with one, however, since it will richen the fuel delivery within the RPM range more than it will lean it out in spots.
