well hell, where to start....... name is bill, live in southern arizona and just joined the board. a little backstory: back in '92 while in the navy, stationed in long beach, ca, i decided i needed transportation, so i bought a 1990 kawasaki zephyr z550. rode pch just about every weekend. in '93, the zephyr was stolen. in '95, i bought an '86 vfr700, may have been a 750, from a shipmate for 800 bucks. had 60k miles on it and was rode hard. but, it still ran good. i had that thing for about a year or so and then sold it. fast forward to several months ago. i had been surfing the ads looking for a bike, and 3 weeks ago, got me a 1985 honda magna vf700c in trade. i also got a 1984 sabre 700 rolling frame with a bad engine as part of the deal. pretty much less than 400 bucks for the trade value of the item i traded. at the time i got the bike, the seller had bought it from an old guy that was in the process of rebuilding the bike, but then had to sell as he could not finish. i believe the guy was basically replacing seals, greasing and a lot of minor maintenance type work on it. the bike has approximately 14k on it. it also did not run as the carbs needed to be cleaned out again. as of this past weekend, the bike runs, but is still a month or two from being road ready, and fortunately, mostly due to minor electrical and restoration type items. lucky for me the bike came with new rubber too. anyways, i found this forum by searching for info on the v4's and strangely enough, i did not realize up until last week that the interceptor i had shared the same engine practically. i am pretty excited about getting on this bike. it'll be a somewhat slow process, but i am going to love every minute of it. i miss that vfr, but am stoked to have a v4 again. thanks for reading and hope to contribute here. now, abiding by the rules of "netiquette", here is a picture of her, with some parts removed as they were being worked on:
