Hey Guys, I've seen a lot of fender eliminators out there but it seems whenever they're paired with luggage racks you end up with a piece connecting the racks sticking out in no mans land. Here's an example: Although this eliminator is definately nicer than mine, it doesnt work well with luggage. So, I spent a couple of hours tonight building this: The piece is made from 16 guage steel so I'm guessing it's 90% as strong as the Givi setup. MUCH nicer looking IMHO. Next up, I'll post some pics of my luggage rack. Wesley J
Wesley J, you just might have the solution to a problem that I have been hunting for an answer to. I was also looking to do a fender eliminator, but you can't get rid of the stock Honda fender mount and still mount the factory hard bags. I will be getting a set of factory bags here in a couple of weeks and I am very interested to see if I can come up with a solution similar to yours. I figured I would have to wait to mount the bags and then decide how to get around the problem of eliminating the fender. Those pictures give me some good ideas now...... BTW great work on your parts, they look very nice. Thanks for the post. Ron
Just to make your day, a friend has an '02 with factor bags that I'll be building one for. If there's enough interest I may actually build both and sell them, as well as the trunk mount that I posted another thread on. If I could sell enough to buy that TIG I "need" then I'd likely go ahead with them. Wesley J
The top bag mount is way trick, the low profile is much better than the standard mount. If you don't ever ride 2 up, and I try not to, that mount is definately the way to go. I'm wondering if there is enough clearance there to run it with the seat cowl mounted........ That fender eliminator definately has some potential too. I'm interested, keep me posted. Ron
