I have just passed my 1-year mark on a motorcycle, and it has been quite a year! I thought I'd share a few of the highlights and reflections on the past year... :: Over 7,000 miles already on the bike. :: Rode up Mt. Evans here in Colorado, and reached 14,240' in altitude. :: Did an early summer ride with other VFR riders from VFRWorld. A great trip down through Pike National Forest. :: No accidents, although a few close calls from some dumb drivers. The closest incident caused by a cop who pulled out in traffic. :: Speaking of cops...1 speeding ticket, but I deserved it and did learn my lesson. :: A ride up to the Blackhawk/Central City area. Followed a group of 10 Model T's up the canyon which was fun, although not too fast. :: Countless waves and nods to other riders. :: No major mods, but I did install the saddle bags, modified the fender, and hooked up battery tender and heated gloves switch. :: Rode in the heat, cold, rain, and even a light snow. I have enjoyed every minute on the bike, and I am thankful that I choose a VFR. I was also looking at the BMW F 800 ST, and a used Ducati ST4. But my RWB '07 has been the perfect bike, allowing for enough comfort for long distance rides into the mountains, and enough power and zip to really enjoy the canyons. Thanks to all VRFWorld members and all the advise, opinions, and enthusiasm on all things VFR related (and some that aren't VFR related). In the to come I am looking to do my first multi-day trip and tour western Colorado, a few more mods and upgrades to the bike, and definitely more rides with other VFR's. Here are a few favorite images from the past year.
Thanks all for the responses. Drewl - that is a good question. No specific goal, but definitely to put at least another 7K on her. Pierce - I just got her new tires. Went with Dunlap Roadsmarts, and I never expected the difference it has made when compared to the stock tires. Another goal for the next year - attend an AMA, MotoGP, or Superbike event.
