Hey and hello. I've belonged to a sportbike club in the phoenix area for two years
now. I wrecked my first street bike, a Katana 750, last december and finally
got back onto two wheels last night. My wife surprised me with a brand new
06 VFR sitting in the driveway. (has already been nominated for spouse of the
    year by the way heheh).

So, as I always do, I like to get into "the know" on items that my life depend on.
    It's a military thing...

    So hello all and g'day.

welcome. nice wife man. did she know you wanted a vfr or did you want a vfr? were you surprised or was she droppin hints to get your tastes? I think the VFR is a helluva improvement over Katana, but the Katana is a good bike, too. A buddy of mine had one. I never liked the looks of them, though.

Yeah, I had one as my desktop wallpaper... and she got me that exact one.
She managed to keep it hidden, she had several of the folks from my bike club
helping her out and my brother and father in-law as well.
As far as the Katana goes, it was a great bike. I really learned how to ride on
it and was sorry to see it go (it was quite wadded up) and didn't enjoy the
shattered collarbone that came along with it.

I thought I was lucky just to eek a used bike out of the wife. You should feel very fortunate. Welcome to the friendliest group of bikers around. Since I am in Tucson and have relatives in Mesa, we should meet up and go ride those twisties up to Payson.

Actually, I was putting something together for Payson or Prescott this Sunday.
Lemme know when you're comin up this way. Some of our guys head that way
to run Mt. Lemon on occasion and I've never been to Tucson.

Mt. Lemmon is a really fun ride when done early before all the cages start cruising up there. I'm down anytime. My Mesa relatives are in the I60 Higley area.
