So we had some of the heaviest rainfall overnight that this area has ever seen. Some places have had as much as 15" of rain. I woke up to intense thunderstorms every hour. Pretty cool actually in that regard. Today I drove through Manayunk and up the Schuylkill Expressway on my way in to work this morning. Bad decision. Took me twice as long as normal. Eastbound Schuylkill was closed from 476 to Girard. Thankfully I had to head west. Almost every main highway was closed or heavily delayed, and most all back roads had similar issues due to the flooding and downed trees/wires. What a mess!

Video of one of the slides and then a couple shots of traffic and such (all with my cell phone - pardon the quality):

I'd have more photos of flooding and such but had to get to work :p

Belmont Ave @ the Schuylkill - can only get on going Westbound:

West on the Schuylkill - note absolutely no traffic heading Eastbound:

    Then the fog rolled in:

Pic #2 looks like a great place to split lanes.

    Where abouts are you heading?

That is almost normal traffic for rush hour on the way to/from work - at least going that direction. Too bad lane splitting is illegal here in PA. I did it once, and a fellow biker who was in his cager pulled up to me and said: "It's assholes like you that give us good bikers a bad rep!" I was lane splitting 'cause my sis was involved in a bad accident and I was going to the hospital. But I digress... wish lane splitting were legal here :(
