The R1 was hanging with them. Those cars are pretty exotic though. For the money, the R1 is the clear choice. If you ever watch Pinks All Out on Speed, just about every one of those cars will outperform not only our beloved VFR, but any stock sportbike in the 1/4 mile. Bikes are great, but when money is added to the equation, they are not king of the road.

I thought bikes pretty much ruled in the 1/8th and mostly in the 1/4, too. Bang for the buck the bike is still tops, though, I guess. How many cars are there that can even reach 155 mph? Prob not too awful many.

Well, he needed a '99 busa to equal things out a bit. Hell, many exotic production cars have a faster top speed than our fastest bikes, but most all but the very fastest cars will be beaten by our fastest bikes from a dead stop to the bikes' top speed. Pretty hard to beat a bikes power to weight ratio. Anybody remember that street legal turbo zx-11 awhile back (years) that motorcyclist tested? She topped out at ~232mph or something.

Hey, off the subject, why don't we have a little smiley guy on a bike to choose from? All we have is this:plane: and the car guy (cannot find). Also, I swear to God that our smiley list will have a car on it one day, then it will be gone the next day when I look for it.....but I digress...what were we talking about again?

That's what blew me away about that video, how fast the Bugatti went around him. Does anyone know what the second car is that joined in?

The Bugatti Veyron has a 1000 hp on tap and markedly superior aerodynamics. I can't tell what the second car is either, but it sounds like a V12.

It is a bit humbling to take your bike to the strip and try to run good ET's. Ironically, the cars are quicker in the first 60 feet as they can launch harder and not be concerned about flipping over backwards.

I met a few cars on the street in Wichita that could run 9's but looked pretty plain on the outside, they were real sleepers! But I still looked better!!!

Don't get me wrong, I love bikes, but I have been up close and personal with a Bugatti Veryron and it is enough to make your mouth water. 16 cylinders, dry sump oil system, 4 turbochargers, 1001 horsepower, HUGE tires. The thing can take off like a rocket. It is the fastest accelerating street legal vehicle on earth, and the most expensive! That and I just read it tops out at a cool 253 mph, not too shabby! But I hope you have 1.5 MILLION BUCKS to drop.   :hurt:

I dont know much about the porsche, other than damn that looks fast... But really, hauling around a corner leaning way off and sticking like glue, it just aint the same in a cage... :fish:

Those exotic cars are somthing else. If you buy one you know where the extra money went!

However, most of the morons I see on the road who think they are fast are young kids with their ball caps on sideways, in their four cylender cars that have a muffler system that sounds like angry bumble bees are stuck inside who have watched The Fast and The Furious one too many times and for some idiotic reason think they can take a bike????? (Enjoy my run-on sentence)

Anybody else have these people pull up beside them and they want to drag race you?

Don't know if you folks have UK's Top Gear ( BBC World ? ) but we do and its brilliant, here they set the fastest speed for the Veyron so far at 408kph. ( 255) The amusing thing the driver is nick named Captain slow on the show.

Top Gear's Veyron speed test: ( its worth watching )

Nice clip. That was freaking fast. Too bad it looks like an ugly step-child (IMO)....but hell, I would love to have one.

Reminds me of the Callaway Corvette Twin-Turbo Sledgehammer....that baby topped out at 254.76MPH (funny how I still remember that speed 15-20 years later). Here is the only video I have found that mentions it. Warning, it doesn't show it run, only a magazine cover of it. Kinda lame I know. Still, I used to have the mag that had the top speed run in it.

If its the same bike I am thinking of it was called the "Eagli-Turbo"? I remember Kawasaki made it too and it had a nitrious bottle in the back seat cowl.

Yes, it has happened to me several times. That's how I found out my VFR can do a power wheelie. Of course I smoke them every time. But there was a souped up Mustang that got pretty close to beating me but after I shifted into 2nd I was gone. :bolt:

My friend Jeff has a busa and he faces it all the time too:confused:

He said for some reason Celica owners seem to single him out, go figure.

Yeah, it might have been. Hard to find info on it because it was in the early days of the web. I think it had a Mr Turbo kit on it.
