On my VFR I had to do a valve adjustment (8 valves adjusted out of 16) and that took me a while. As a matter of fact it took me almost 3 weeks with most of that time being waiting for parts and in the meantime my bike looked like this:

And frankly, I only did this as a preventative maintenance to ensure my bike doesn't break down and I just wanted to get it over with pronto.

Well, I started it up for the first time a couple days ago and wow, I got to say it sounds much different than before, and in a good way.

To hear what it sounds like now I have two .wav files

This one is of the bike idling: http://www.rossosoft.com/bikesound/Idling.WAV

And this one I'm revving it up up to around 7 RPM. http://www.rossosoft.com/bikesound/Revving.WAV

Does that sound badass or what? I'm surprised that I even get heads turning around riding around town. Before that I was just basically Mr. Anonymous.

Moral of the story kids, preventative maintenance not only keeps your bike running it makes it sound badass!

 Sorry, we'll always have slapchop...

I got hit by the "WTBIAMAWDT" syndrome (While The Bike Is Apart Might As Well Do this Too) I took the front fairing off in order to replace the dashboard lights, one of them was burnt out and I could only see half the tachometer and half the speedo at nighttime. As for the rear wheel, I had to do that in order to ensure the gaskets are sealed up right on the cylinder cover, it's kinda hard to see back there with the wheel in the way and all...

damn, I need to fix my dash, too... It was half out on the speedo and half on the tach, but now it's all the bulbs out so at night I have to wait until light from somewhere else hits the dash... lucky for me, I pretty much now how fast I usually go so I dont get too crazy and since it stays light longer now it's not a big deal.... I need to get it fixed before winter, though...
