Just sold my 1992 VFR with hopes of buying a 2003 VFR ABS model and running an electric jacket liner and gloves. With daytime temps in the 30s and 40s during the winter, riding is a bit chilly. I'd like to find out how much the electrical components (lights, fuel pump, fan, etc.) on the '03 draw. I know the alternator cranks out 470 watts and the jacket liner draws 77 watts and the gloves 22 watts. I want to stay warm, but I don't want to fry the electrical system.

    Thanks

check out that the alternator has enough juice to keep the battery charged at low rpm. Some don't, and there is a "product adjustment" out.

The product fix is on the 2002, so I'd assume it's ok on the 2003. There are people using heated grips and electric vests on the 2002.

I wouldn't idle in the driveway for 1/2 an hour with them turned on though.

max power is at 5k rpm, there is about 110 watts of extra power at that rpm. There was a recall on the 02 for a under producing alternator but that has been fixed.
