I'd really appreciate any feedback you can offer on the decision I face regarding new boots.

I commute about 30 miles/day (round trip), 9 months of the year.

    I have an 03 VFR w/ABS.

I don't go to track days.

I don't wear leathers (armoured textile).

    It rains here.

    A lot. It's Vancouver.

I have fairly wide feet (not so wide I have to buy special shoes, though). Yesterday I tried on some Sidis ($485 Canadian!) that were very narrow and too long.

I am replacing Alpinestars Ridge "waterproof" [sic] boots that are falling apart after six months and leak.

    I want protected, dry feet.

So... which set of boots do I buy? Or should I buy some other non-Gore-Tex boots and a set of Treds?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

I commute Chilliwack - Surrey every day there is no snow. Had Joe Rocket but they were not waterproof. Bought Alpinestars Goretex last year and have not looked back. Thney even kept my feet dry during my ride to Central California this spring. Two days each way in puring rain. You must have gotten a bad boot. My 2 cents.

Thanks, Randy. My commute is Bowen Island to a variety of Lower Mainland locations.

Which Alpinestars model did you buy?

go with the boots that fit you right and put frezer bags over them with zip ties to hold them in place while you ride, now your feet are dry and comfortable:biggrin: also add slick50 gas treatment in wet weather keeps the gas dry..

I will pull the bills later and get back to you. It doesn't say on the actual boot itself

Thanks, Randy. Who is the guy you work with? Bowen is a small town. Maybe a PM back?
